We attend local community events in Athens and surrounding areas to teach about local marine organisms and marine habitats.

University Teaching
We incorporate evidence-based teaching practices in all of the courses we teach. Specifically, Dr. Heil teaches courses for non-science majors, graduate teaching assistants, and future teachers.
K-12 Teacher Professional Learning
We run several field-based teaching professional learning opportunities focused on marine science, including: Georgia Coastal Ecosystems LTER Schoolyard Teacher Workshop, FEET IN, and My Georgia COAST.
Service-Learning
Dr. Heil is a current Service-Learning Fellow at UGA. He is developing a course that gets undergraduates out into the Athens Clarke County community to teach using live marine organisms.
